Dr. Gerent came to St. Petersburg College in 2003 to teach Exceptional Student Education courses in the College of Education. It was the second year of the academic program’s existence and her vast teaching experience was invaluable as courses were developed and accreditation was sought. Her steady guidance and experience have prepared many students for the challenges they would face in the work place.
She holds a master’s degree in Education from Florida Atlantic University and a Ph.D. in Exceptional Student Education from the University of Florida.
She was the founder of the Council for Exceptional Children chapter at St. Petersburg College and was an officer in the national Teacher Education division of that organization.
Dr. Gerent retired in 2015 and lives in Holiday.
